How to install a downloaded world
Each world page lists the editions and game version it was built for. Check those first.
Java Edition
- Unzip the download. You should end up with a folder containing a
level.datfile. - Close the game if it's running.
- Move that folder into your
savesfolder. - Open the game, choose Singleplayer, and pick the world from the list.
Your saves folder is here by default:
- Windows:
%appdata%\.minecraft\saves - macOS:
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves - Linux:
~/.minecraft/saves
Bedrock Edition
- Open the downloaded
.mcworldfile. The game starts and imports the world. - Wait for the import message to finish.
- Find the world in your Worlds list.
Large worlds
Full-scale worlds can need more memory than the game's default. If the game struggles on Java Edition, allocate more memory in your launcher's installation settings and lower your render distance.
